From Buffalo to Toronto only takes me a little over an hour, and if you really want to explore the city, I'd make sure to have a car. Driving from Orange County, NY to Toronto takes me about 6 hours including time at Customs. Once there, Id visit the CN tower (on the main observation deck, there is a section of glass bottomed floor!scary!), on Danforth there are lots of great Greek restaurants (Ouzerie is outstanding! 500 Danforth St. - park next to the church, and walk down) and bakeries (tasty pastries at the one next to the church!), and a trip wouldnt be complete without a little shopping on Queen St.! Have fun!

You can always take the bus to NY but sometimes flying can be cheaper. I usually fly jetblue from Buffalo. (www.jetbue.com) If there is enough advanced notice I sometimes find $39 one-way fairs to NY from Buffalo. Toronto is only about 2 hours from Buffalo. You can take the bus if you like. If you have a ride then you can stop at Niagara Falls on your way to Buffalo. There is the cute city of Niagra on the Lake and lots of farms that things.
